mini传媒入口 is One of Five MCCCD Schools Awarded AHCCCS Federal Funding to Address Behavioral Health Workforce Shortages

When mini传媒入口 (PC) Psychology faculty Dr. Debbie Webster heard MCCCD was selected to receive $6.8 million in federal funding from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) to address behavioral health workforce shortages, she immediately stepped up as principal investigator for PC鈥檚 $1 million portion of the award. 鈥淚 took this on for PC because I thought this was a great opportunity for our students. We need people in behavioral health. We鈥檙e excited to be a part of this.鈥

The roar of the crowd joined the thump of the electronic bass in a laser light show that followed the awarding of degrees to over 1,000 mini传媒入口 (PC) graduates with their families filling the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday, May 12, 2023. As students streamed out of the coliseum in bright blue robes and caps flanked by PC faculty and administrators, many stopped to high-five, fist-bump, or hug a professor who nurtured their journey toward a college degree.

Dr. Allison Hawn: Public Scholar

Allison Hawn is fully engaged in sharing her knowledge with students, and others who seek out her expertise. For her Ph.D. in Communication, Allison spent four years in tattoo shops across the US researching the communicative practices of tattoo artists, the history of colonialism in Western tattooing practices, and ways that tattoo artists can democratize the world of fine art. 鈥淚 noticed a ton of research on why people get tattoos and people鈥檚 perceptions of tattoos, but there was nothing on tattoo artists. That鈥檚 why I started this research,鈥 she said, 鈥渢o give them a voice in an area that has traditionally ignored them.鈥澛犅
